Weingut Leitz - EINS-ZWEI-DRY Sauvignon Blanc 2024 represents the vibrant, modern, and accessible side of premium German winemaking. Helmed by visionary winemaker Johannes Leitz, the winery has become an international benchmark for quality—with the playful "EINS-ZWEI-DRY" series offering a clever spin on counting in German while guaranteeing a crisp, bone-dry profile.

While Weingut Leitz is historically based in the Rheingau, the grapes for this expression are carefully sourced from selected vineyards in the sun-drenched Pfalz region, where Sauvignon Blanc truly thrives. The combination of warm microclimates, limestone, loam, and loess soils allows the vines to achieve optimal ripeness, infusing the wine with rich fruit character, balanced structure, and a distinct mineral edge.

In the glass, it shines with a brilliant straw-yellow hue accented by pale green reflections. The nose opens with an intense, expressive bouquet of fresh-cut grass, green bell pepper, gooseberry, passion fruit, and bright grapefruit notes. On the palate, it delivers a crisp, bone-dry structure with vibrant, mouthwatering acidity, where zesty citrus, lime, and juicy white peach unfold seamlessly into a long, mineral-driven finish.

At Weingut Leitz, the winemaking philosophy centers on preserving varietal purity and expressing the unique terroir:

Gentle Processing: Carefully harvested grapes are brought to the winery and immediately subjected to a gentle pressing cycle.

Temperature-Controlled Fermentation: Fermentation takes place at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks under strict reductive conditions. This preserves delicate aromatic compounds and primary fruit freshness while preventing unwanted oxidation.

Fine Lees Aging: Following fermentation, the wine rests briefly on its fine lees (sur lie), imparting subtle roundness and texture to complement its crisp backbone.

Fresh Goat Cheese Salad: The tangy, creamy profile of goat cheese pairs naturally with the wine's vibrant acidity and herbaceous undertones.

Grilled Sea Bass or Salmon with Citrus Dressing: The wine's zesty citrus notes cut through the richness of the fish effortlessly.

Classic Asparagus Dishes (White or Green): A natural match for Sauvignon Blanc's leafy, herbaceous character.

Fresh Seafood (Oysters, Mussels, or Shrimp): The wine’s salty minerality complements the fresh, oceanic sweetness of shellfish.

Thai or Vietnamese Green Curry: The crisp fruitiness provides a refreshing counterbalance to fragrant Asian herbs like lemongrass and coriander.
