The NivEGY Bor is a unique collaborative dry white wine from the heart of the Nivegy Valley, one of the most exciting micro-regions of the Balaton Uplands. The wine is based on the region’s signature grape variety, Olaszrizling, which expresses the character of the Nivegy Valley in a fresh, elegant and highly approachable style.

On the nose, delicate white flowers, green apple and citrus notes appear, complemented by the subtle almond nuance typical of the variety. On the palate, lively acidity, clean fruit character and a gentle mineral touch define the wine. NivEGY Wine 2024 is an easy-drinking yet characterful white wine, perfect as an aperitif, for summer gatherings, or paired with light dishes.

This Balaton Uplands Olaszrizling captures both youthful freshness and the elegance of the terroir, making it an excellent introduction to the style of the Nivegy Valley.

A collaborative wine from Nivegy Valley

NivEGY Wine is not the product of a single winery but a joint project created by several winemakers from the Nivegy Valley. The goal of the initiative is to present the identity of the valley through a wine that reflects the shared terroir and collective winemaking philosophy of the region.

The 2024 vintage was created in cooperation with eight wineries: Dobosi Winery, Kisspince, Holló Winery, Martinus Estate, Szabó és Fia Winery, Tánczos Winery, Tagyon Estate and Kaszap Attila Winery.

The project was supported professionally by Hungarian sommelier champion Mátyás Szik, while communication and coordination were assisted by Ádám Róka. The result is a wine that represents not a single winemaker’s style, but the collective spirit and terroir expression of the Nivegy Valley.

The grapes were harvested from several vineyards across the Nivegy Valley and processed gently after harvest. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the fresh fruit character and natural aromas of the olaszrizling (welschriesling) grape.

After fermentation, the wine rested briefly on fine lees, adding texture and a subtle roundness to the palate while maintaining freshness and vibrant acidity. The wine was bottled relatively early to retain its lively and aromatic character.

Grilled pike-perch with lemon - The wine’s crisp acidity and citrus notes highlight the delicate flavor of the fish.

Asparagus risotto - The green freshness of asparagus pairs beautifully with the bright and slightly almond-tinged character of Olaszrizling.

Goat cheese salad - The creamy texture of goat cheese is perfectly balanced by the wine’s lively acidity.

Breaded chicken with fresh salad - A clean, refreshing white wine is an ideal match for crispy fried dishes.

Seafood with garlic butter - The wine’s freshness and subtle minerality balance the richness of butter and enhance the flavors of the seafood.
